RCA Alumni Spotlight Questionnaire

1. What was your professional path after graduating?

I became a registered nurse and worked in the emergency department before transitioning to critical care ICU with a focus on cardiovascular patients. I obtained my Bachelor’s in Science and Nursing. I worked for six years in the ICU, primarily focusing on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) patients and shift-leading three different ICUs. After receiving critical care experience, I returned to school for my doctorate. I graduated on December 13, 2024, with my Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP). I currently have my Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist’s (CRNA) license and will be practicing primarily in Dayton, OH, in the OR.

2. How did your academic experience guide you in your pursuits and daily life?

The academic experience I received at RCA helped me pursue a degree, and the curriculum helped me build a foundation for long-term memory.

3. What was your favorite activity and study subject?

I always enjoyed reading and science. I despised math.

4. What is your favorite memory from your time at RCA?

My favorite memory is Bro. Phillip Horton sitting at his desk grading papers. He also encouraged me to recognize my potential and pursue a higher education.

5. What was your favorite tradition at RCA?

My favorite tradition was battle-ball!! I loved that game and would still play it today if I could.

6. What advice would you give current RCA students?

Don’t let your pursuit of education stop when you graduate from high school. You can obtain a higher education that will change your and your family’s lives. You can be different from others and pursue the career you feel is your calling.

7. Any additional information you would like to be made known about your experience at RCA and the impact on your life.

RCA gave me the foundation I needed to attend college and start my career in the medical field. It taught me perseverance, setting goals, and accomplishing those goals. Also, Bro. Phillip Horton was the principal when I went there. He saw my potential and pushed me to do more. Going to a small school is nice. The teachers and principals know you on a personal level. They motivate you and pray for you to fulfill your calling.
